Are you curious to learn more about what lies beneath the surface of your rivers? What are the interactions between the fish, mammals, birds, invertebrates, amphibians and others who make up the aquatic ecosystem? Join us to hear Mark Everard and Harriet Alvis explore this fascinating world.
Harriet Alvis is an aquatic ecologist working previously with Bristol Avon Rivers Trust and now with West Wales River Trust. She is also a Trustee of Avon Needs Trees and an editor at FISH magazine. Harriet will be sharing her passion for fish, talking about which types of fish you can expect to find in the River Marden and discussing how they co-exist with other aquatic life in a sustainable river system.
Dr Mark Everard is a scientist currently working as Associate Professor of Ecosystem Services at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), as well as a consultant, broadcaster and author on a wide range of sustainability issues. Mark will be sharing his knowledge of river wildlife in the context of a "wider basket of ecosystem services" and the connections between our activities and nature’s vital life support systems.
The talks will be hosted by Avon Needs Trees with chair Nikki Jones. There will be an opportunity for a Q&A session with the speakers.
This is a free, online event organised by Friends of the Marden Valley and Avon Needs Trees. Absolutely all are welcome.
